The Monuments Men were a group of men tasked to rescue these
masterpieces from Nazi thieves in Germany and return them to their rightful
owners.
Based
on the true story of one of the greatest treasure hunts in history, The Monuments Men portrays a platoon sent into Germany by FDR to rescue
stolen masterpieces. Comprised of an
unlikely group of museum directors, curators and art historians, The
Monuments Men risked their lives to find and protect the millions of
art treasures stolen and hidden by the Nazis.

directed by George Clooney. Also starring in the film along side George Clooney are Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray and John Goodman.
