DigiNext Series Starting on 09/21/12 at your local Digiplex Theater

At Digiplex Destinations, reinventing cinema means bringing entertainment to a whole new level-whether through the inspiring spectacle of a live opera or magic experience of a digitally remastered Hollywood classic like Singin’ in the Rain or Lawrence of Arabia.

Now we are pleased to announce the launch of DigiNext, a curated series of independent films fresh from festivals around the world and now at your local Digiplex Destination. The selected films include edgy comedies, provocative dramas and insightful documentaries that bring something unique to your local cinema- Movies that Change You.

Here is the list of features for our first series:

The story centers on the Navarros, a family struggling to keep their young son alive. The war between the Navarro Family and the FDA is perhaps this country’s greatest evidence as to why there should be medical freedom. As the personal meets the political, we see how the FDA holds a vise-like grip on treatment options. Heart-wrenching and informative, the film ultimately expresses the hope that we can create a new paradigm of prevention, medical freedom and acceptance of highly-tailored therapies to usher in a more enlightened era.

10/19/12 The Standbys
Every night on Broadway, dozens of the best performers aren’t on stage. They are backstage, standing by, ready to go on at a moment’s notice. The unique and challenging lives of Broadway’s Understudies and Standbys are revealed in this evocative and original behind-the-scenes documentary.

Chloe & Keith’s Wedding is a heartfelt and hilarious, indie romantic-comedy that captures all of the fun, frolicking and hijinks of one of the craziest weddings ever. Completely scripted, the film cleverly captures the story of Jordan, the clumsy best man, and Sarah, a bridesmaid who also happens to be his ex-girlfriend as told through the “found footage” shot by the wedding videographers and the guests themselves using video flip cameras. This hilarious and touching indie film is truly groundbreaking as it was the first to use a viral video to solely market the film.

01/25/12 Standing Silent
Phil Jacobs, editor of the Washington Jewish Post, has begun writing and publishing a series of articles about sexual abuse in the Orthodox Jewish community. He has found what he believes to be clear evidence that several respected rabbis have been able to avoid arrest and recrimination due to the control they wield over the community. Fear blankets the orthodox community, creating an impenetrable wall of silence impossible to break through.

02/22/12 Taiwan Oyster
Shot on location in Taiwan, The Taiwan Oyster tells the story of Darin and Simon, two American ex-patriots who steal the corpse of a fallen countryman and embark on a quixotic road trip through the Taiwanese countryside in search of a suitable burial place for a person they barely knew. Taiwan in the year 2000, only thirteen years after the lifting of Marshall Law rule and still an unruly place referred to by many as the “Wild, Wild East,” provides a perfect setting for The Taiwan Oyster.

Greetings Digi Friends!
We wanted to let you know that our Pennsylvania theaters (former Cinema Centers) are now ALL DIGITAL! From the press release:

Digital Cinema Destinations Corp. (NasdaqCM: DCIN), a fast-growing motion picture exhibitor dedicated to transforming movie theaters into digital entertainment centers, today announced the completed installation of 54 Barco digital cinema projectors in the remaining Pennsylvania-based auditoriums acquired from Cinema Centers in April 2012. We make a complex job look easy. 'DigiNext':Partnership Bringing New In-Venue Film Festival to Digiplex Circuit

Hello DigiFriends!  We have some big surprises coming up this fall of 2012. One of them is our new partnership with Nehst, which is an innovative digital content financier, developer, producer and distributor.
The DigiNext In-Venue Film Festival is a unique theatrical exhibition program that pairs multimedia company Nehst Out with Digiplex Destinations, a fast growing state of the art digital theatrical exhibitor.

A breakthrough for filmmakers and consumers, the In-Venue Film Festival is re-creating the film festival experience in local theaters and will showcase high-end American independents, and award winning foreign language films from the top 20 film festivals around the world.

As part of an enhanced movie-going experience, films in the series will include live and Skyped Q&A sessions with filmmakers as well as celebrity appearances and gift bags for attendees.

DigiNext is committed to providing opportunities for filmmakers without previous distribution a chance to reach the consumer. Conversely, the In-Venue Film Festival offers consumers access to highly praised but underexposed films without having to attend film festivals all over the world.

Nehst co-founder and Chairman, Larry Meistrich originated this concept with the successful and critically acclaimed “Shooting Gallery Film Series at Lowes Cineplex Entertainment” which was responsible for such breakout hits as “Croupier” and “Judy Berlin.”

Happiest Baby and Happiest Toddler Live With Dr. Karp

Moms and dads, parents of infants and toddlers – even grandparents, nurses and nannies – will want to visit their local Digiplex digital cinema to watch America’s favorite pediatrician, Dr. Harvey Karp, reveal the surprising tips and tricks that have made his celebrated books and DVDs among the top parenting guides in history.
The live one night event will be hosted by former Miss USA Ali Landry at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 21 at the Digiplex Rialto Theater in Westfield, N.J., and Digiplex Bloomfield 8 theater in Bloomfield, Conn. Ticket prices are $12.50. Check here for details.

Dr. Karp uses modern science and folk wisdom to help new families get the rest they need, and raise happy, patient, cooperative children. This live presentation will bring to life teachings from Dr. Karp’s books The Happiest Baby on the Block and The Happiest Toddler on the Block. Audiences will enjoy live demonstrations, watch footage of parents in action, learn simple solutions to help them raise happy, well-behaved young children – and get more sleep.
“Even loving parents can feel pushed to the limit by their baby’s screams or by toddler explosions,” said Dr. Karp. “But some simple steps give parents the tools to calm even colicky babies, soothe tantrums fast and boost cooperation in just days. You almost feel like you’re ‘flipping a switch.’”

Adds A. Dale “Bud” Mayo, Digiplex Destinations chairman/CEO, “This special event is a perfect complement to our Wednesday afternoon ‘Mommy & Me’ film screenings where parents and caregivers can come with young children and not worry about harsh looks if their children get fidgety – the lights are brighter, the sound is a bit lower during these special performances.
“We started this at the Digiplex Rialto Westfield and will expand ‘Mommy & Me’ to our other locations this fall,” Mayo said.
The Digiplex Bloomfield 8 Theater is located at 863 Park Avenue (Wintonbury Mall), Bloomfield, Conn., and the Digiplex Rialto Theater is located at 250 East Broad Street in Westfield, N.J.  Click here for more information.
