Captain Phillips starring Tom Hanks at Digiplex Destinations

When a small band of Somali pirates hijacks the MV Maersk Alabama cargo ship, the first America cargo ship to be highjacked in two hundred years, the Alabama’s Commanding Officer Captain Richard Phillips is taken hostage.

Based on the true story of the 2009 hijacking, four desperate Somali Pirates bearing machine guns board the MV Alabama in hopes of gaining a fast payday.  Captain Phillips, (Tom Hanks), tries to protect his cargo and crew and offers himself up as a hostage so that his crew can remain safely about the ship.

A tense and deadly standoff with U.S. Navy warships ensues in the Indian Ocean during a harrowing drama at sea.  Phillips’ five day saga on a cramped lifeboat with heavily armed Somali Pirates hinges on the decisions of the veteran captain.
